Americký hudebník, skladatel a zpěvák Tom Petty patřil k nejvýraznějším postavám amerického rockového písničkářství. Byl spoluzakladatelem skupiny Traveling Wilburys, ve které působili také Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison nebo George Harrison. S doprovodnou kapelou The Heartbreakers fungoval průběžně od roku 1976.
Album Live At the Fillmore 1997 zachycuje výběr z dvaceti vyprodaných koncertů, které Petty a The Heartbreakers odehráli v průběhu dvaceti nocí v legendárním prostoru Fillmore v San Francisku. Šest z těchto vystoupení bylo profesionálně zaznamenáno a trojalbum na vinylu nabízí vrcholy těchto památných večerů — od klasik American Girl a Free Fallin' přes covery Eight Miles High a (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction až po mluvené vstupy, které zachycují uvolněnou atmosféru a Pettyho živou interakci s publikem.
