The Pogues je britská skupina hrající směs tradiční irské hudby a punku. Založena byla v roce 1982 v Londýně pod jménem Pogue Mahone a ve svém zvuku využívá nástroje jako tin whistle, banjo, mandolína či akordeon.
Kompilace The Very Best Of… vyšla v roce 2001 u vydavatelství Warner Strategic Marketing a nabízí celkem 21 skladeb z repertoáru skupiny. Výběr zahrnuje ikony jako Fairytale of New York, Dirty Old Town, The Irish Rover či A Pair of Brown Eyes. CD je vydáno v plastovém obalu s leštěnou obálkou.
V sestavě v době vydání figurovali Jem Finer, Spider Stacy, Andrew Ranken, Darryl Hunt a David Coulter.
