Motörhead patří k nejpopulárnějším hardrockovým a heavymetalovým kapelám, která v sedmdesátých a osmdesátých letech výrazně ovlivnila vývoj speed a thrash metalu. Britské trio založilo v roce 1975 baskytarista, zpěvák a skladatel Ian „Lemmy“ Kilmister, skupina je často považována za předchůdce nové vlny britského heavy metalu.
No Sleep 'til Hammersmith je první koncertní album na 3× vinylu vydané v červnu 1981 vydavatelstvím Bronze Records, obsahuje 30 nahrávek z britského turné, během kterého kapela během 34 dnů odehrála 32 koncertů. Album je pojmenované podle nápisu na jednom z tourbusů a zachycuje Motörhead na vrcholu jejich popularity – album se stalo jejich jediným počinem, který v britské hitparádě dosáhl první příčky. Mezi skladbami najdete koncertní verze Ace of Spades, Overkill, Bomber či Motorhead, které zachycují živelnou energii a hlasitost koncertů kapely.
V době vydání alba tvořili Motörhead Lemmy Kilmister (baskytara, zpěv), Phil „Philthy Animal“ Taylor (bicí) a Eddie Clarke (kytara).
