Grateful Dead byla americká rocková skupina založená v roce 1965, proslulá eklektickým stylem spojujícím rock, blues, jazz, folk, country a psychedelii s dlouhými improvizacemi během koncertních vystoupení. Skupina si vybudovala oddanou fanouškovskou základnu známou jako „Deadheads“ a je považována za průkopníky žánru jam band.
Album In and Out of the Garden: Madison Square Garden '81, '82, '83 vyšlo v roce 2022 jako součást katalogové kampaně Rhino Rocktober. Tato limitovaná edice v nákladu 10 000 výtisků nabízí šest kompletních vystoupení na dvanácti 180gramových vinylových deskách, zachycujících vystoupení v newyorské Madison Square Garden z let 1981, 1982 a 1983. Sada obsahuje 129 skladeb, včetně klasických nahrávek jako Feel Like a Stranger, Althea, China Cat Sunflower nebo Ship of Fools.
Na vydání se podíleli Bruce Hornsby, Robert Hunter a Rob Wasserman.
