Warren Zevon byl americký rockový zpěvák a skladatel známý svými provokativními texty plnými černého humoru a politických odkazů. Jeho nejslavnější písně zahrnují Werewolves of London, Lawyers, Guns and Money a Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner.
Stand In The Fire vyšlo původně v roce 1980 a bylo nahráno během pětidenního pobytu v The Roxy Theatre v západním Hollywoodu v srpnu 1980. Album obsahuje živé verze Zevonových největších hitů, včetně Excitable Boy a Poor, Poor Pitiful Me, a představuje dvě nové originální skladby (Stand in the Fire a The Sin) plus cover Bo Diddley's a Gunslinger. Vinylové vydání bylo věnováno Martinu Scorseseovi.
