Sérii veleúspěšných vystoupení 3T - Luciana Pavarottiho, Placida Dominga a Jose Carrerase za doprovodu orchestrů s Florencie a Říma pod vedením Zubita Mehty - odstartoval právě tento koncert v římských Caracallových lázních v roce v roce 1990. Protože jsou všichni tři zpěváci zároveň vášnivými fanoušky fotbalu, nemohl se konat nikdy jindy než při příležitosti světového finále FIFA.Díky obrovskému úspěchu CD a DVD, které vystoupení ihned následovaly, se koncert stal vůbec nejúspěšnější událostí klasické hudby v histoiii.
