Tears for Fears je britská pop-rocková skupina, kterou v roce 1981 založili Roland Orzabal a Curt Smith. Jejich melodické skladby jako Shout, Everybody Wants to Rule the World a Mad World se v osmdesátých letech dostaly na vrchol hitparád.
The Seeds of Love vyšlo 25. září 1989 u vydavatelství Fontana Records jako třetí studiová deska kapely. Album spojuje epický zvuk skupiny s vlivy jazzu, soulu a beatlesovského popu. Jeho náročná produkce a opakovaná nahrávací sezení stála přes milion liber. Ze záznamu vzešly hity Sowing the Seeds of Love, Woman in Chains a Advice for the Young at Heart, které uspěly v žebříčcích po celém světě. Toto dvojdiskové vydání obsahuje původních 8 skladeb i 16 bonusových verzí, remixů a rádiových editů.
Na albu se podíleli Curt Smith, Roland Orzabal a americká soulová zpěvačka Oleta Adams, která hostuje na doprovodných vokálech.
