Saxon patří k zásadním kapelám heavy metalu z Velké Británie. Jako protagonisté Nové vlny britského heavy metalu dosáhla kapela v osmdesátých letech značných úspěchů a ovlivnila celou řadu následovníků včetně Metallicy nebo Megadeth.
Rock the Nations je osmé studiové album Saxonu vydané v září 1986 u vydavatelství EMI. Tato rozšířená reedice obsahuje celkem 17 skladeb včetně bonusových nahrávek – mezi nimi singlové úpravy Waiting for the Night a Northern Lady, živé nahrávky z Madridu (Everybody Up, Dallas 1pm) a tři skladby z legendárního vystoupení na Reading Rock Festivalu 1986 (Power and the Glory, Rock the Nations, Waiting for the Night). Zajímavostí je, že při nahrávání alba ve studiu pracoval současně Elton John a hostoval na skladbách Party Til You Puke a Northern Lady.
V době vydání alba tvořila Saxon šestičlenná sestava: Biff Byford (zpěv), Paul Quinn a Graham Oliver (kytary), Steve Dawson a Paul Johnson (baskytary) a Nigel Glockler (bicí).
