Motörhead byla britská rocková a heavymetalová skupina založená roku 1975 baskytaristou a zpěvákem Ianem „Lemmy“ Kilmisterem, která je často považována za předchůdce nové vlny britského heavy metalu. Skupinu charakterizoval agresivní zvuk, markantní zpěv Lemmyho a kompromisní energie na pomezí heavy metalu, speed metalu a rock'n'rollu.
Iron Fist vyšlo v dubnu 1982 na vydavatelství Bronze Records a v britském žebříčku se umístilo na 6. místě. Jednalo se o páté studiové album skupiny a zároveň poslední nahrávku klasické sestavy Three Amigos. Titulní skladba Iron Fist vyšla jako singl a dosáhla 29. příčky v UK. Dvoudiskové vydání na CD obsahuje 44 nahrávek včetně alternativních verzí a bonusových instrumentálů jako Sponge Cake nebo Peter Gunn.
V době vydání alba tvořili Motörhead Lemmy Kilmister (baskytara, zpěv), Phil „Philthy Animal“ Taylor (bicí), Eddie Clarke (kytara) a Brian Robertson (kytara).
