Judas Priest je britská heavymetalová skupina z Birminghamu, která se zformovala v roce 1969. Spolu s Iron Maiden a Saxon představuje jednu z čelních kapel hnutí New Wave of British Heavy Metal.
Dvojalbum The Essential Judas Priest vyšlo v roce 2006 na CD u vydavatelství Sony Music UK a přináší retrospektivu tvorby skupiny od sedmdesátých let až po album Angel of Retribution. Kompilace obsahuje 34 skladeb na dvou discích a zahrnuje klasiky jako Breaking the Law, You've Got Another Thing Coming či Electric Eye. Výběr opomíjí debutové album Rocka Rolla a éru zpěváka Tima „Ripera“ Owense.
Na albu se uplatňuje tříčlenná sestava kytaristů Kenneth Downinga a Glenna Tiptona spolu s baskytaristou Ianem Hillem.
