The Jam byla britská mod revivalová a punk rocková skupina z Wokingu v Surrey, která působila v letech 1972–1982. Patřila k hlavním představitelům britské punkové a new wave scény sedmdesátých a osmdesátých let, jejíž hudba kombinovala agresivní kytarové riffy se sociálně kritickými texty.
Kompilace The Very Best of The Jam vyšla v roce 1997 u vydavatelství Polydor a obsahuje všech 21 singlů skupiny seřazených chronologicky. Najdete na ní klasické skladby jako Going Underground, Town Called Malice, The Eton Rifles, That's Entertainment či Beat Surrender, které mapují celou diskografii kapely od debutového In the City (1977) až po závěrečné album The Gift (1982).
Trojici The Jam tvořili Paul Weller (zpěv, kytara), Bruce Foxton (baskytara, zpěv) a Rick Buckler (bicí).
