Dream Theater je americká progresivní metalová kapela založená v roce 1985 v Bostonu. Patří k nejvýznamnějším představitelům progresivního metalu a propojuje virtuozní instrumentální techniku s komplexními kompozicemi typickými pro progresivní rock.
Album When Dream and Day Reunite vyšlo v roce 2005 u vydavatelství Sony Music. Nabízí 10 skladeb včetně rozsáhlých kompozic jako Metropolis, The Killing Hand či instrumentálního Ytse Jam, které předznamenaly typický styl kapely — technickou vyspělost kombinovanou s melodickým cítěním.
V roce 2005 tvořili Dream Theater Mike Portnoy, John Myung, John Petrucci, James LaBrie, Jordan Rudess a Steve Stone.
