Dismember patří k průkopníkům švédského death metalu – stockholmská kapela založená roku 1988 stojí po boku Entombed, Grave a Unleashed jako součást švédské „velké čtyřky“ žánru. Jejich sound definoval podobu severského death metalu v 90. letech.
Album Death Metal vychází na CD v reedici z roku 2023. Kromě studiových skladeb nabízí čtyři bonusy z Misanthropic EP (Pagan Saviour, Shadowlands, Afterimage, Shapeshifter) a kompilační track Hill 112 z Death...is just the Beginning IV.
